Hopper HQ Cash Dash – We Threw Away £507.16 Somewhere In London…

This past week we hosted a treasure hunt; the Hopper HQ Cash Dash. We threw away £507.16 somewhere in London with clues hidden across five locations, whoever found the stash got to keep the cash.

If you kept an eye on our social media channels this week you would have caught a glimpse of the Hopper HQ cash dash. We threw away £507.16 in a secret location in Soho, London. Whoever found the stash got to keep the cash. To locate the stash you had to follow a trail of clues mapped out across five locations, first to reach the final location and find the stash got to keep the cash.

We had a tremendous response from  over 400 enthusiastic Londoners; a plurality of 302 marketing professionals and 103 members of the general public signed up, with 171 marketing professionals and 40 members of the public participating on the day, eager to join the hunt and find the stash. After an adrenaline filled treasure-hunt-esque marathon across Soho, London, @samphirechicks from Samphire Communications found the stash and kept the cash, a big congratulations to you!

“The hunt was possibly the most fun I could have on a Tuesday lunch break. We were originally two pairs, Lucy & Fred and Lauren & Isabelle, but we bumped into each other at Soho Square and being colleagues thought it too awkward not to team up! We’ve always been fans of Hopper HQ as it helps us with our social media clients immensely so being able to be part of something they planned was great.”

Winner Lauren Gregory of Samphire Communications

Why did we throw away £507.16 in a bin in London?

Now you might be wondering what was the point of the whole Cash Dash treasure hunt, well besides the great fun we all had, stashing £507.16 in a secret bin in London was not just for the games (or the hundreds of selfies we were sent). There was a greater message behind it; think of the cash dash as a live action true to life theatre production metaphor, yes metaphor!

Agencies and digital marketers throw away £507.16 every month by not scheduling their Instagram posts and we wanted to metaphor- or demonstrate exactly what that looked like. According to our internal data, scheduling using Hopper HQ the automated Instagram scheduling tool is 3 times faster than sending an image to your phone and uploading manually. On average brand and agency accounts post twice a day. (6 minutes a day). The average agency account manages 10 Instagram accounts. (60 minutes a day). 30 days in a month (30 hours saved). The average social media professional salary is £16.92 according to Indeed and there are 63,111 social media professionals registered on LinkedIn globally.

“We wanted to do something fun and engaging that would demonstrate just how much money marketing agencies and brands are throwing away every year by not scheduling their Instagram posts. These aren’t figures plucked out of thin air either – we know that Hopper is 3 minutes faster than manually posting, so imagine how much more time and consequently money social media professionals would have if they saved that on every client they worked with!”
